Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has piloted AI-powered disaster alert kiosks along tsunami-prone coastal roads in Alappuzha and Kollam. These kiosks use real-time seismic and meteorological data to deliver voice, text, and siren warnings for tsunamis, cyclones, and high tides. They are solar-powered and equipped with CCTV to monitor beach activity. In recent heavy rainfall, the kiosks alerted over 2,000 residents in advance, aiding evacuation. Each kiosk also offers educational content about climate risks and emergency procedures. The pilot’s success has prompted plans to install 100 more kiosks along Kerala’s coastline by 2026.
